February 3, 2010. The Hamilton Spectator: Residents betting solar panels will pay off

With an end to coal power in 2014 and no new nuclear plants being built, the province of Ontario is pushing energy conservation and renewable energy. The new province’s MicroFIT program aims to encourage homeowners, businesses and others to install projects that generate 10 kW or less by paying a premium for electricity generated from wind and solar power. Private companies are approaching commercial business owners, seeking to rent rooftops under a separate FIT (Feed-in Tariff) program for larger systems. Justin Woodward, Director of Solar Development for Toronto-based Greta Energy Inc., has held a few meetings with Hamilton business owners, looking for sturdy roofs and offering 21-year leases for the space. Competition in Toronto is already fierce, so the company is focusing on smaller cities such as Hamilton.

January 12, 2010. The Toronto Star: Rush is on to lock up rights to flat GTA rooftops

In a province prepared to pay richly for solar power, it’s no surprise that the race is on to lock up leases on prime rooftop real estate across the Greater Toronto Area and the rest of Ontario. “It’s kind of like a gold rush right now”, said Justin Woodward, Director of Solar Development for Toronto-based Greta Energy Inc., which is focusing its efforts on smaller towns outside the GTA. Greta Energy is one of dozens of emerging ventures that are approaching property owners offering 21-year leases for the rooftops. Ontario Power Authority’s Feed-in-Tariff program pays between 53.9 and 71.3 cents per kWh for large commercial spaces and guarantees quick connection to the grid.

August 17, 2009. Greta Energy Acquires Grand Valley Wind Farm in Ontario

The 50 MW project northwest of Orangeville, Ontario, will be constructed in two phases. The first, at 22 MW, will be constructed in 2010 under three RESOP PPA contracts with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA). The second, to be approximately 28 MW, will be constructed in 2011 or 2012 under the OPA's new Feed-In Tariff program. The project marks Greta's entrance to the North American market.

April 16, 2009. Greta Energy Holds Public Hearings in Yeisk, Krasnodar Region, Russia.

Public hearings were held to discuss the construction of the Yeisk wind farm and to conduct a round table on the main directions of state policy for the use of renewable sources of energy to 2020 in Krasnodar Region. Among the participants were representatives from the administrative and legislative bodies on both regional and municipal levels, the Russian Academy of Science, and leading research organizations and foreign energy companies working in the wind industry.

Greta Energy hosted a delegation of five public and private sector representatives from Ninh Thuan Province, Vietnam, to expand our presence there and to promote the Province within North America.

May 28, 2008. Greta Energy Signs Wind Consultancy Agreement In Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Greta Energy signed a consultancy contract with Enterprise Development Agency Bihac (Bosnia and Herzegovina) for the identification of the perspective sites for wind monitoring and further development of the wind project with a rated capacity of at least 30 MW in Una-Sana Canton. The report was submitted to Garrad Hassan and Partners for the revision and specification of wind monitoring campaign.

May 14, 2008. Greta Energy Opens New Subsidiary In Bosnia And Herzegovina.

Greta Energy registered a subsidiary "Greta and Green Energy" in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to administer the activities relating to wind and hydro projects in Una-Sana Canton, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

February 27, 2008. Greta Energy Signs Feasibility Study Contracts For Two Hydro Projects In Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Greta Energy signed the two contracts with reputable local engineering companies for feasibility studies on the rivers Bosna (7 HPPs with a capacity up to 62 MW) and the hydro projects in Una-Sana canton (8 sites with a capacity of up to 15 MW) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

December 10, 2007. Wind Measurement Started At Yeisk Wind Farm In Russia.

3 x 70m Class 1 HiMasts supplied by Nexgen were installed and began recording wind data as of December 10, 2007 at the Yeisk wind farm on the coast of the Azov Sea in Russia. Wind monitoring campaign and pre-feasibility studies are carried out by Garrad Hassan and JSC Center of Engineering UES (Russia).
